Run Rundown: June 1, 2010

1 06 2010

Today was couch to 5k week 6 day 3. 2.25 miles, no walking. It was a great run and overall I felt it was easier than the 2 mile run I did last week. I actually didn’t start feeling winded and tired until about the last 1/2 mile or so.

We decided to run at 8am this morning because we missed out run day over the weekend. I went home for my graduation party and for the Indy 500 on Sunday so running this weekend did NOT happen. We had 5 days of rest before the run this morning. I don’t know if the 5 days helped or harmed us… but I felt reseted for the run.

We ran on a different part of the greenway this morning and I think the change of scenery was helpful too. I was starting to associate land marks with distances on our other route and it was making me feel like the runs were dragging. I kept looking for the fence or the rock instead of concentrating on my running. So the change of location might have been a factor in this run feeling a little better.

I am still feeling really tight in my calf muscles and have been for the part few weeks. I need to find some good exercises to stretch them before and after running. Its starting to be a real pain.

Run Rundown: May 27, 2010

I did Week 6 Day 2 of couch to 5k. It went pretty good, we ran a mile, walked a quarter mile, and then ran a second mile. We also decided to run inside one of the campus gyms on a track because it was sooo hot out. And it looked like it was going to rain on top of the heat.

So running inside was fabulous because it was AIR CONDITIONED. Fantastic! I feel much better after the hard run I had on Tuesday, hopefully the 2.25 mile run this weekend will be fine. Also, we are running in my hometown before my graduation party on some nature trails in a local park. I am looking towards a change of scenery and not running on pavement.

Completely unrelated (sort of), I went shopping to get “real” shorts. Shorts to wear in public to my graduation party and to the Indy 500 this Sunday. So I got some shorts and I also bought some new tops in a size MEDIUM… OOOOOOOO. Yeah. Its awesome.

Well anyways, I am not going to be blogging this weekend because I stupidly forgot my macbook charger at school. So my mac is not going to be alive after tonight.

Well have a good weekend and I will see you all on Monday!

Run Rundown: May 25,2010

Did Week 6 Day 1 tonight. We ran on campus at about 10 pm. The temperature was better than on Sunday but it was still sooo humid out. It was also the second to last day of intervals. I am not going to say it was an easy run, but we have been running faster lately and we can really feel it about a 1/4 mile into the run.

I can tell that the rest of the plan is going to be hard. There is only one more day of intervals and then we run considerable distances for the rest of it. We are getting to the end and I hope we can finish this without dying.

Support is Key

25 05 2010

I have tried to lose weight in the past, probably about….6 times, but each time I failed miserably. I would follow a diet for maybe 2 or 3 weeks and then I would just give up.

This time I made sure to surround myself with people who support me in my healthy endeavors. Without the support I have been receiving I would never have come as far as I have. I would have quit by now. And I think it is GREAT that when I whined about my plateau in my lest post I had friends literally tell me not to give up, that I have been doing great, and give me tips to help bust (KAPOW!) my plateau. I even had a friend from the past pop up and give me support and whom I am now supporting in her weight loss journey.

For all of you that want to lose weight, any weight, I have found an online forum for people in their 20s that are all doing the same thing; losing weight, bitching about it, and cheering each other on. This forum is one of the key players that keeps me going. Sure I don’t know these people but I see their successes and I want to succeed too. I see their failures and I want them to keep on persevering. Its a wonderful little community of some of the best people. Here is the link: 3fatchicks forum

PS- If any of you need a cheerleader for your weight loss, healthy lifestyle, or just anything really leave me a comment and promise to talk you up!

Plateaus

24 05 2010

Garrr…. My weightloss has been virtually non existent for the past two weeks. I was all happy that I have gotten under 200 pounds last week and now I am weighing in back in the 200s.

I have officially hit a plateau. I am being ok on my diet and I am still running 3 times a week but the scale is not budging… or if it is moving its to go UP in numbers! This is so frustrating for me and it really makes me want to just throw in the towel. But I can’t. I HAVE to get my weight down so I can enlist in the Air Force. And I have come too far to give up now.

If anyone has any tips for busting a plateau please share!

Run Rundown: May 23, 2010

23 05 2010

Today was Couch to 5k Week 5 Day 3, 2 mile run with no walking. My buddy and I repeated week 5 so this is the second time we did the 2 mile run, though she did not finish the whole 2 miles on her first try.

Today we both successfully completed the 2 miles… but geez was it AWFUL. First it was a little over 90 degrees when we decided to do it (not smart) and we did it where a lot of the run was in full sun with no shade (double not smart). So it was awful and humid while running and this time the 2 mile run was much harder for me than a week ago.

We have agreed to always run either in the evening or in the early morning so we can avoid the blistering heat and humidity. So hopefully we won’t feel so awful again. Luckily there is this awesome smoothing place right on the trail. We stop there after nearly every run and we get some water and possible a smoothie. This time the owner took one look at our red faces and instead of pouring us cups of water he just gave us the whole dang bottle! He is one of the nicest people I know and here is a little shout out to his WONDERFUL smoothie place, theislandmuncie.com. Think Hawaii in the middle of the midwest.

Anyways, we are starting Week 6 on Tuesday and with that we are almost done with our days or intervals with walking and moving straight on to just running the whole time…. If I don’t blog for a while someone please come and find me passed out on the trail.

🙂

P.S.- Its Sunday so I need to update my stats on the stats page. I forgot to weigh myself this morning because I had to be at work at 7am so I will update the weight data tomorrow!
